Issues of tourism and ethno-cultural communications in the media space were discussed at the plenary session of the VI Caspian Media Forum.

It was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Dagestan and Russia.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Director of the Information and Press Department, Official Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova took part in the online media forum. She read out the Greetings from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

“Cooperation in the Caspian is reaching a new level,” the appeal says. “The legal framework is being improved. In August 2018, the five leaders signed the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea. Dialogue is progressing within the framework of five-sided formats and mechanisms. Interaction in the information sphere contributes to deepening trust and mutual understanding. I am convinced that the current forum dedicated to such a topic of current interest as ‘Tourism and ethno-cultural communications in the media space’ will be held in a constructive, business-like manner and will contribute to the development of new joint initiatives. "

Maria Zakharova noted: "The development of tourism infrastructure between the Caspian countries can become a catalyst for the development of other areas of international interaction."

Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Southern Federal District Vladimir Ustinov stressed that the Caspian Media Forum is an important international event. He thanked the leadership of the region for organizing such a significant event in the difficult conditions of the pandemic.

“The Astrakhan region is a long-standing hospitable platform of the Media Forum,” said Vladimir Ustinov. “The region has many strategic advantages. This is a geographical position, rich historical and cultural heritage, a unique variety of natural and biological resources. Having the status of a border region, the Astrakhan region is not only a reliable outpost of Russia but also an active conductor of interstate cooperation in the Caspian Sea and one of the leaders in the development of promising cooperation with the Caspian states."

The participants of the Media Forum noted that this large-scale international event makes a significant contribution to the development of relations between the Caspian countries. It allows you to discuss the most pressing and acute issues, find common ground and establish close cooperation. With all the variety of issues discussed at the forum, the main topic is always cooperation in the media sphere of the Caspian region.
